A selection of new books, ranging from recent bestsellers to biographies, cookery, children’s, coffee table and fiction books could all be found on sale during the recent fair organized by Agenda Bookshop in aid of YMCA. The Book Sale took place in Freedom Square, Valletta between the 1st and 11th November 2007.
“We find that offering our customers the opportunity to buy the titles they like at heavily reduced prices while help YMCA Homeless is a good synergy,” said Rachelle Tabone, Marketing Manager for Agenda Bookshop. “Books are known to be a person’s good friend. Through this initiative, books will give persons in need of a home a helping hand to have a roof.”
YMCA Homeless addresses needs of troubled families, victims of domestic violence, the homeless and those living in substandard accommodation. The YMCA Homeless shelter, Dar Niki Cassar, accommodates up to 22 homeless people of all ages. On average, the home is always full. It is open all year round and residents are given social and psychological support to overcome their current situation and regain the basic skills for independent living.
