The world of confectionery is a most unusual one. There’s something delightfully odd about making coconut flavoured mushrooms or delicious fruity sweets shaped like tiny babies.
It certainly takes an extraordinary mind – and a sweet tooth – to make a living of it, but William Henry Tavener was one such character. In 1904, William turned his passion for pickles and sauces into an obsession for boiled sweets. It’s an obsession that still runs through the Taveners’ factories today.
