The International Book and Press Retailers Association is to hold it’s next Congress in Malta in June 2006. The last time this Congress was held in Malta was in 1971.
Made up of the leading European Press retail chains, the fundamental aim of IBA is for major retailers to exchange ideas and gather Industry information. Presentations are made by external speakers together with members presenting papers on the latest developments in technology and in their countries. Each member Company is represented by its most senior executives adding value to the meetings and events.
The attraction of IBA today is that it encompasses companies of varying sizes – all with the common goal of successful marketing and sales of Newspapers, Magazines and Books. Whilst some members are global retailers operating worldwide, others are smaller outfits but typically are major players in their regions or countries.
Commenting on the Malta meeting scheduled for June, IBA Board member Malcolm Miller, who in his capacity of CEO of Miller Distributors the Malta member, will be hosting this year’s event said ‘’We have a good line up of speakers on topics directly affecting all our operations and we have also prepared a full itinery of visits to the many interesting historical sites in Malta and Gozo. I am sure that apart from the successful business sessions, all our members will leave Malta as good ambassadors and spread the word of the beauty that Malta has to offer to quality tourism”.
