Martina Callus, 12, is the winner of the fashion model title for Shout magazine. In December, Martina will be travelling to London for a photo session which will feature in the fashion pages of the magazine.
Shout is a fortnightly magazine which sells an average of 84,000 copies in the UK and export markets, per issue. The Campaign to Search for a Shout Fashion Model was launched in September, giving any Maltese girl the one-time opportunity to get noticed and become a model in the fashion section for an upcoming issue of the magazine.
Out of the 500 applicants, 40 girls were short-listed for the title. The first runner-up was Bettina Pace, 12, while the third place went to Pippa Muscat, 13.
Martina is 160cm tall, with brown eyes and a confident, outgoing and bubbly personality. “When I was called out as the winner my first reaction was of surprise. I thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s me’!” she said. “I feel very excited and happy that I won the competition as all the other girls were so pretty. I will do my best and enjoy every minute of the time I will spend in London doing the photo shoot for Shout.”
Martina will travel for the professional photo shoot in London between December 6 and 7. All expenses are covered by Miller Distributors Limited, local distributors of Shout magazine and organisers of the search in Malta.
“We are very satisfied that we have been able to offer this opportunity which may open interesting horizons to girls with a passion for fashion,” said Emma Miller, responsible for Sales Development – Newspapers and Magazines at Miller Distributors Limited. “The very attractive number of applicants shows us there is a demand for this kind of activity which makes us look forward to be in a position to offer a similar experience in the future.”
The main sponsor for the Shout Fashion Model Search is Remington, a leader in professional haircare, shaving and grooming products. The campaign is also supported by Radisson SAS Baypoint, Franks, 89.7 Bay and Models.com. Official photographer is Ben Camilleri.
