Two New Education Titles

Two new Education titles have been added to the growing list of Agenda publications.  On Thursday 16th March, in the presence of the authors and editors, teachers, social workers and important members of the Ministry of Education, Promoting Positive Pupil Engagement and Understanding Children and Youth at Risk were launched. Due to the current climate of behavioral difficulties, truancy and violence in our schools today, both these titles are particularly topical.

“Promoting Positive Pupil Engagement” is the latest book to be written by Paul Cooper, a Chartered Psychologist and the Director of the School of Education at the Univeristy of Leicester, England. His examination of social, emotional and behavioral difficulties in schools has been well recognized worldwide. Introduced and edited by Carmel Borg and Carmel Cefai of the Department of Education, University of Malta, this book is ideal for anyone involved with child education and development.

“Understanding Children and Youth at Risk”, described by Professor Peter Mayo as a “wonderfully and painstakingly crafted volume”, was edited by Carmel Borg and Colin Calleja. This text offers a gripping collection of models, methods and voices on how schools can enhance the educational chances of learners who are socially disadvantaged, truant in body or in mind or condemned as problematic.

The launch was held in the picturesque surroundings of the Birgu bastions. In recognition for their support, Miller Distributors Limited was pleased to contribute a number of books to the Birgu Local Council, which the major was present to receive.

Both these books are available from all Agenda Bookshops and leading booksellers.
