The Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) announced that the ASA National Water Polo Team will participate in the European B Water Polo Championships to be held in Manchester between 8 and 15 July 2007.   Another important milestone during 2007 shall take place in Malta between 8 and 16 September when the ASA will host the European Youth Water Polo Championships with the participation of sixteen teams including Malta.
This was revealed at the ASA Annual General Meeting held at the University Residence Complex in Lija. President Robert Ebejer, in his report, went over the events of the past season and gave an overview of the programme planned for year 2007 that includes both local and international commitments.
In particular, Mr Ebejer thanked the Association’s Sponsor Wilkinson Sword, who for the second consecutive year will be the principal sponsors of all the leagues organized by ASA.

Presently the ASA is trying to organise an international tournament inviting three or four teams in Malta to be held during the break between the Winter League and the Preliminary Round.

It was officially announced that the Player of the Year 2006 from Division I is Paul Privitera of Sirens ASC and the Player of the Year 2006 from Division II is John Paris of Exiles ASC.

The ASA Council, together with Marsascala SC proposed that the long-serving council member, Thomas St John, who has decided to retire from the Council, be declared an honorary member of the ASA.  The motion was unanimously approved.

The programme shall commence with the Winter League followed by the Preliminary Round and the Final Round, and will finish off with the Knock Out Competition during the first days of September.
